Energy Smart Housing Manual
www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/www/html/1400-sustainable-homes.asp

The SEAV Energy Smart Housing Manual will enable builders, designers and home owners to maximise the energy saving potential of any property or house design. Through sensible design, energy costs are lowered, comfort is maximised, non-renewable resources are conserved and greenhouse emissions are reduced. The Manual addresses recent trends and developments such as increased site densities, smaller lots, dual occupancy and multiple dwellings. It also includes a range of case studies of homes achieving 4 and 5 star ratings to illustrate many of the points made.

Solar House Day
www.solarhouseday.com

For the last four years ANZSES has organised and coordinated a unique community event to promote sustainability and energy efficiency in building throughout Australia and New Zealand. This major community event used to be called “Solar House Day”. It has recently been renamed Sustainable House Day – SHD in recognition of the broader areas of sustainable residential living that are often demonstrated, e.g. water saving and reuse, recycled material, other renewable energy features…
The main strength of SHD is the fact that ANZSES offers the Australian public the chance to experience actual working examples of actual people’s energy efficient homes, building or renovating experience. This allows the SHD visitors the opportunity to talk to actual homeowners and experts to gain insight into the effectiveness and many benefits of environmentally responsible design. In other words ANZSES takes the initiative and truly educates, inspires and enables people to utilise renewable energy sources and ecological building principles. SHD is an excellent vehicle for doing just that.
